MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A south-central Kentucky man is set to go to trial on charges of manslaughter and tampering with physical evidence after plea negotiations failed to produce a deal.
The Daily News reports that prosecutors and attorneys for 20-year-old Daniel Hostetler of Summer Shade each rejected offers to settle the case. Hostetler now faces an Aug. 26 trial in Hart Circuit Court.
Hostetler was arrested in April, more than a year after 19-year-old Brandon Crain was last seen alive. A fisherman found Crain's body on April 29, 2012, in the Green River in Butler County.
Police say a right between Hostetler and Crain ended with the younger man's death last year.
