Ky. police look to link serial killer to cold case

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Police in central Kentucky are investigating whether a serial killer imprisoned in Florida could be connected to the killing of 22-year-old Valeri Brooks of Versailles more than two decades ago.

Versailles Assistant Police Chief James Fugate said investigators were looking into whether there were connections between Brooks and 50-year-old Glen Edward Rogers, a man dubbed the "Cross-Country Killer" who has relatives near Versailles.

Investigators plan to compare Rogers' DNA on file in Florida to evidence from Brooks' slaying. Rogers is awaiting execution for the fatal stabbing of Tina Cribbs, a 34-year-old mother of two whom he met her at a Tampa bar in November 1995.

Brooks' family in Kentucky and Connecticut says they want answers about who killed Valeri Brooks.
