LARUE COUNTY, Ky. -- On Friday night, Larue County Dispatch received a call of a reckless driver. Kentucky State Police deputy observed the vehicle driving recklessly and he attempted pull the driver over. The driver ignored the signals which then turned into a pursuit.
The pursuit continued on KY 1192 near the 5 mile post when the suspect’s vehicle spun out and came to rest facing the officer. As he approached the vehicle the suspect accelerated towards the him.
The Deputy fired shots into the vehicle striking the suspect in the head. The vehicle then exited the roadway and into a ditch.
Larue County EMS transported the suspect to Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was later transported to the University of Louisville Hospital.
Early this morning, the suspect was pronounced dead and an autopsy is being performed.
Larue County Sheriff’s Office requested that KSP investigate the shooting. Police say the officer was not injured. They are not releasing any names at this time.
