FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Legislature has adjourned after a weeklong organizational session in which the House and Senate chose their leaders.
In the two top positions, Democratic state Rep. Greg Stumbo was re-elected as House speaker and Republican Sen. Robert Stivers was elected as Senate president.
Lawmakers are scheduled to return on Feb. 5 to begin passing legislation. On the agenda are proposals to shore up the state's financially troubled pension system and to reform the state's tax code.
More than 100 other bills on a variety of topics also are in the legislative hopper.
