LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington Police say a drug deal turned violent when one man fired several shots at another man at Eastland Mobile Home Court off New Circle Road. Police caught up with the victim nearby, but they are still searching for the shooter.

It all happened before 8 p.m. in a trailer park with many people there as witness.

"There were many others, adults and children, who were in the area that could've been struck by the gunfire as well," said Lt. Jody Stowers, with the Lexington Division of Police.

It was still light outside at Eastland Mobile Home Court when people living there say they heard gunshots. It was coming from a black Chevy Cobalt, and police say the two men involved do not live there.

Neighbors called 911 scared that someone was hurt as the two ran from the scene, one in a vehicle and another on foot.

"The victim indicated that he had not been shot. He was actually in the process of purchasing narcotics and was robbed by the male Hispanic," said Lt. Stowers.

Police tell us that victim is Jacob Jones, 33, of Lexington. And they caught up with him after tracking Jones using K-9s to Lexington Motor Inn just down New Circle Road, where he lives.

As for the suspect, police are still searching, using what witnesses told them on scene.

"We have a good suspect description and some leads to follow up with," said Lt. Stowers.

Jones now faces drug paraphernalia charges and unrelated warrants.

Police are checking nearby businesses on New Circle Road for surveillance video, hoping to get more clues about the suspect.
