Overnight smash & grabs seem to target Lexington businesses

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Surveillance video catches a thief in action, only adding to the list of overnight smash and grabs at Lexington businesses.

Around 5:30 Friday morning, someone discovered that a rock had been thrown through the window at Penn Station on South Broadway. Surveillance video captured the thief smashing the cash register into the ground.

The manager says the thief stole about $200 and caused about $800 in damage. This is just the latest smash and grab at a Lexington business over the past few weeks.

Earlier this week, a rock was used to smash a window at ColorTyme in the Eastland Shopping Center. The same thing happened at Coney Island there recently as well.

A thief smashed their way into C & C Pharmacy on Mapleleaf Drive twice within eight days and stole prescription pills. Shortly after, a thief tried to bust their way into Burger Shakes on New Circle.

Two businesses on Versailles Road also had their windows smashed in. It's a string of crimes that, so far, have all gone unsolved.

So far, Lexington police have not been available to comment on these recent burglaries. Of course, if you have any information about these burglaries, call Lexington police.
