Lexington Police officer who shot & killed dog resigns

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington Police Officer who shot and killed his neighbor's dog in Scott County has resigned from the force.

In March, Jeff Brangers admitted he shot the dog because he thought the animal was threatening his chickens.

No criminal charges were filed after Brangers reached an agreement with the dog's owner, however, a group of concerned citizens did file a petition asking the council to take action against the officer.

Brangers' resignation is effective next Monday.
