Lexington Police search for Subway robber

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are searching for a robber after a fast food restaurant was held up Saturday night.

Lexington Police say a man walked into the Subway on New Circle road just before 7:45p.m. and implied he had a weapon. He told the clerk to give him money and the clerk complied.

The man then ran across New Circle Road toward Yates Elementary and into the Eastland neighborhood.

Police say they don't have a very good description and are hoping to find surveillance video from neighboring businesses or homes.

"The only description we were able to get was a male subject, possibly five-foot-ten, wearing dark jeans, possibly Nike tennis shoes with a dark colored hooded sweatshirt that actually concealed his identity," said Lt. Sam Murdock with Lexington Police.

Murdock said during that search police didn't bring out a K-9 because the robber ran across New Circle Road. He said because it is such a busy road there would be no way for it to pick up a solid scent.

Police are asking people living in the Eastland area to call them if they saw someone matching that description during that time period.
