LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - It may not feel like it, but winter is fast approaching the bluegrass. Some households don't have heat to combat the chill.

But a central Kentucky business is doing its part to make sure no one is left out in the cold.

Six families thought only one of them was going to get the gift of heat. But Fayette Heating and Air gave all of them brand new heating systems.

"The community has been very good to us. It's what we do. This is just something we can do. We've been blessed and we want to help bless others," said Fayette Heating and Air CEO, Bret Melrose.

Sandra Christmas has been dealing with a broken furnace for three years. She has five space heaters blowing at the same time to keep her house as comfortable as possible.

Her daughter, Tanya Smith, says lately times have been tough.

"She's been diagnosed with cancer so she stays very cold," says Smith. "This couldn't have happened at a better time to keep my mother more comfortable."

Melrose says each unit cost somewhere between $6,000-$8,000, but he says the gift is much bigger than money.
