LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - First United Methodist Church in Lexington is holding a year-long celebration for it's 225th year.
They started in September, recognizing members who've been with the church more than 50 years.
They even opened a time capsule last month and are planning on filling it back up again soon.
"We were the first Methodist church this side of the Allegheny Mountains, the first church in Lexington and one of the first 100 Methodist churches in the United States," says Foster Ockerman, Jr, the church's historian.
On Sunday, the church held a special service for all of the daughter churches they have founded in and around Lexington.
