LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A fire in Lexington early Thursday morning kept crews busy for several hours.
It started a little before midnight off Angliana Avenue, where firefighters say some old railroad ties caught fire. Crews were at the scene for hours working to put out the fire and keep it from spreading to a nearby apartment complex. Norfolk Southern was also on scene helping firefighters by using special equipment to remove the charred ties.
Firefighters say the apartments on Angliana Avenue were never in any real danger. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
They say they don't yet know how the fire started in the first place.
