Lexington gas station robbed overnight

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington police are searching for a man who robbed a Shell gas station overnight.

It happened just after 4am Friday morning at the Shell on Versailles Road and Alexandria Drive.

Police shut the store down friday morning while they gathered information about the robbery. They say a black man wearing a ball cap, gray hoodie, sunglassess and a mask covering his face walked into the store. He then went up to the cash register, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money.

Police say the clerk then handed over the drawer out of the register, the robbery took the cash out of it and ran. No one other than the clerk was inside the store at the time, she was unharmed.

Police say they were able to use K-9s to track the suspect to Village Drive, but were not able to find him from there.

Police also say the store does have surveillance video of the suspect but that they are not releasing it at this time.
