Lexington house fire kills family's pets

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington home was badly damaged by a fire that broke out Tuesday morning. The fire also killed the family's pets.

Firefighters said the fire started just after midnight at a home on Elmwood Drive, behind Mary Todd Park. They said neighbors saw flames shooting from the roof of the home and called police.

The family was not home at the time, but firefighters told us the family's two small dogs died in the fire.

Firefighters say the fire's cause appears to be accidental.
