LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A 2012 murder suspect will soon appear in court for the first time since his arrest. Court documents also reveal new details in the case.
"Sorry to see anybody lose their life over nothing," says Aarom Chase, who worked with the victim months before his death.
Close to two years after Brian Hodge was shot and killed following a celebration called Brucetown Days, his family now has some closure. We talked to Hodge’s mother in January of 2013, five months after the murder.
"It would be closure, it really would. It would be closure for me," says Jane Gill, Hodge's mother. "I could go in my home and I could grieve. I could grieve.”
Police have arrested 31-year-old Lazarus Parker. Court documents show Parker lives close to where the shooting happened on Seventh Street.
That August night, Hodge had gotten into an argument with some men, who ended the fight by shooting him. Police say Parker was the gunman.
Parker will be arraigned on murder and tampering with physical evidence charges at 1:00 Thursday afternoon.
