Emergency operations centers on this side of the United States are bustling and the one here in Lexington is no different.
Local officials are keeping an eye on the storm and the front that is pushing our way now.
With as many as 10-to12 inches of snow predicted for some parts of our viewing area, officials are hopeful everyone is paying attention to the weather situation.
Folks with Lexington-Fayette Emergency Management say now is the time to make sure you have emergency plans and kits ready.
They suggest having a first aid kit, fire extinguisher, three days worth of food and a gallon of water per person per day.
They say having these things in place can make a dire situation more manageable.
"Winter is right around the corner," explained John Bobel, with the Lexington Fayette Emergency Management. "We here in Lexington are not unfamiliar with ice storms and other weather-based disasters. We want people to have a plan in case of emergency."
Bobel also suggests having any prescription medications ready in case of evacuation or in case you are stuck in your home.
He is urging folks to keep an eye on the weather through watching our newscasts and by tracking the storm here on WKYT.com.
