Lexington police investigate attempted robbery in bank parking lot

Updated: Mon 2:37 PM, Dec 31, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A crime alert in Lexington after an attempted robbery in a bank parking lot Monday morning.

Police were called to the PNC Bank on Pasadena near Harrodsburg Road just after 9 a.m.

Investigators say a manager from Rally's restaurant was about to make a deposit when a man pointed something in her side and demanded the money. The woman ran inside the bank, the suspect took off with another man in a white SUV.

Investigators say this probably wasn't a random crime.

"It's probable, they followed her... then tracked her to the bank and then followed her movements previously to figure out which bank she went to... and then attempted to make the robbery here, " said Lt. Mark Brand of the Lexington Police.

The suspects did not get any of the money. Detectives are checking to see if the descriptions match any other recent robberies in the area.
