LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- An assault at a Lexington home Friday night is now being investigated as a homicide.
Police say the neighborhood surrounding Tishoff Drive is typically quiet and safe but on Friday, it was anything but that in one home after police received a call that a man had been seriously assaulted.
Just after 5:30 on Friday, Lexington Police arrived to a home in the 1200 block of Tishoff Drive, once inside they found a man with life-threatening injuries.
The Fayette County coroners office has identified that man as 74-year-old Tom Rogers. Rogers was transported to UK Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to the coroners report Rogers died from multiple injuries that he sustained during an assault. Officials are still trying to figure out who's responsible.
Officers remained on the scene for nearly four hours as they searched for the person or persons responsible.
They also talked with neighbors to see if they heard or saw anything but right now police tell us they have not yet found the person who committed this crime.
Robbery/homicide forensic services stayed on scene late into the night as they are continuing to gather more evidence.
