LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - We're learning new information about the victims in Lexington's latest shooting. Police documents indicate the man and woman shot Wednesday afternoon on Coburn Boulevard are mother and son.

The police document indicates the victims are 18-year-old Tyler Vince and his mother, 45-year-old Tina Vince. In that report, the victim told police a "known suspect" intentionally shot him and his mother. Officials at UK Hospital tell WKYT Tyler Vince was treated and released. There was no word on Tina Vince's condition.

Police have told us one of the two victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

The shootings happened late Wednesday afternoon at an apartment building near the intersection of Coburn Boulevard and St. William Drive.

This is the latest in a string of shootings in Lexington this summer.

"The first thing I saw was about eight squad cars and four fire trucks," said Tim Price, neighbor. "Recently Lexington has become entrenched in a bizarre arena of unexplained violence."

On Wednesday, violence made its way over to the Idle Hour neighborhood when gunshots slashed through the typically quiet area.

"We never have any problems like this but pandemonium has been unleashed today," Price told WKYT.

Police say a man and woman were shot inside their apartment around 4:15.

"Whether it's in the middle of the day or night, if you're going to pull a gun and shoot someone then that's pretty brazen," said Sgt. Eric Hobson of the Robbery/Homicide Unit with Lexington Police.

Witnesses told police that shortly after the shooting, they saw two men run up St. William Drive and hop into a maroon colored SUV that witnesses say was being driven by a white woman.

"As far as the total number of suspects, it's still too early to determine," Sgt. Hobson said. "We have thrown as many resources as we can toward the shootings and violent crimes."

At this point, police are still investigating what led up to the shooting and whether or not it was random.

Police only have a vague description of the suspects involved in the shooting.
