LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police say two people are lucky to be alive after their car crashed into a pole Sunday morning in Lexington.
Officers say they were patrolling the Waffle House on Georgetown Street around 3a.m. when a car sped out of the parking lot, nearly striking the cruiser and took off down Georgetown Street toward Lexington.
The officer followed the car and found it near Elm Street where it had ran into a pole.
Police say the car was badly damaged but both people inside the car had non-life threatening injuries.
They were taken to UK Hospital to be treated. Police say the driver, Lamarcus Stewart, will be charged with Reckless Driving and Wanton Endangerment.
