Lexington police say man posed as a police officer to rape a woman

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man is now in a Lexington jail charged with impersonating a police officer in order to rape a woman.

Lexington police say Adam Crabtree of Richmond met the victim at the Howard Johnson Inn off Winchester Road last month.

They say the victim claims that Crabtree showed her a badge and said he was an undercover cop.

Police say he then threatened to hurt the woman if she did not have sex with him.

Crabtree was previously being held at the Madison County Detention Center on an unrelated charge. He is currently lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center and is charged with Rape and Impersonating a Peace Officer.
