LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - An arrest warrant has been issued by Lexington Police for a man suspected in a car theft and kidnapping that happened early Tuesday morning.
Lexington Police have released the identity of a suspect in a kidnapping and sexual assault case.
They say they're looking for Parico Coffey, 21, of Lexington. Police tell us he will be charged with multiple crimes in this case. Coffey is considered dangerous.
Around 4:30 a.m., police say a woman drove to the Speedway at Versailles Road and Alexandria Drive. The woman went in the store, and when she came out, a man who was armed with a gun confronted her. Police say the man forced the woman into her car at gunpoint and told her to drive.
At some point, they stopped at an unknown location. That's where police say the man sexually assaulted her. The victim was eventually able to take the suspect's gun and run away.
Police say she went to a house on Bordeaux Drive to ask for help and call police. The woman who lives at that home told police that the victim was naked and hysterical when she knocked on her door. We are told she was only carrying the suspect's handgun that she took when she ran away from the man.
The woman was taken to UK Hospital for treatment. But there is no word on whether she has since been released from UK Hospital. Police put out numerous bulletins Tuesday morning, looking for the victim's 2003 silver Ford Taurus. Police say a patrol officer found the car early Tuesday afternoon in a parking lot at Gardenside Plaza on Alexandria Drive.
The other man featured in the surveillance photos that we received from police is Dexter Watson, 23. Police tell us he was arrested Tuesday morning on two unrelated charges. Those charges being concealing a deadly weapon and receiving stolen property. For now, Watson is not being connected to this crime.
