Our focus now turns to the potential of record lows tonight. Many areas may wake up to thermometer readings below zero.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - For the past couple of weeks, Lexington Police have been targeting fast-moving drivers around New Circle Road.
"It's always heavy. The time I'm on there it's a lot of traffic," said Paul Caise.
He says he drives the speed limit, but people always pass him.
"They need to wake up. Everybody's in a hurry. You know everybody's rushing and trying to get here and there. They go pretty fast! I don't know how fast they go, but they pass me. I usually stay in the right lane," he said.
WKYT obtained the numbers for the first week of enforcement. Police gave out 75 speeding tickets, 52 of those were for people moving 11 to 15 miles per hour over the limit.
Even though speeding was the focus of the enhanced patrol period, people got cited for other things as well.
Police arrested one person for DUI, gave out 51 tickets for expired registration, and 32 tickets for no insurance.
Caise said he hopes the extra enforcement makes a difference.
"Try to catch them I guess! Give 'em a ticket! It should help some, I would think," he said.
