LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT)- Lexington Police Officers are helping with traffic control along Newtown Pike Sunday. Lt. Chris Vanbrackel reports that lights along the heavily-traveled road are out from I-75 to Ash Street.

While Vanbrackel does not know what caused the outage, he says representatives from Kentucky Utilities are on the scene.

15-hundred homes in the area are also without power.

In addition to that outage, police are reporting all traffic lights on North Broadway from Louden to Jefferson are also out.

Police are asking folks who are driving through these areas to allow extra time or to try and find an alternate route.
