Lexington road crews on duty early Friday morning

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Road crews in Lexington were out early Friday morning preparing to meet the challenges of the incoming winter storm.

Crews from the Division of Streets and Roads began their work day at 4 a.m. Friday.

Officials say crews will work throughout the weekend if necessary. Acting Director of Streets and Roads, Albert Miller, says this storm has been a tough one to call, but that it's best to be prepared for anything that may come.

Officials are urging residents to plan ahead by making sure you have groceries, fuel and other basic necessities you may need.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for the Lexington area from 12 a.m. EST Friday to 7 a.m. EST Saturday. Lexington could see 1-3 inches of snow and light ice accumulations, according to the forecast.
