Lexington road shut down after crash sends car into tree

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington road has been shut down because of a crash involving a car that hit a tree.

It happened just before 10:30 p.m. Friday on Delong Road, near Tates Creek Road.

Police say at least two people, a male driver and a female passenger, have been injured. Both were taken to UK Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both are believed to be in their early to mid-twenties.

Only one vehicle, a sports car, was involved in the crash. Police tell us they suspect speed and alcohol both played a role in the crash.

Police say Delong Road has been shut down, and could be closed until at least 4 a.m. Saturday.
