Lexington welcomes NCAA, prepares for traffic

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Fans cheering on eight different schools will flood downtown Lexington throughout the day Thursday.

The first game will begin at 12:30 p.m. with Butler taking on Bucknell.

Following that game, Davidson will take on Marquette at 3:10 p.m.

Then after a short break this afternoon, Louisville will take the court playing North Carolina A&T at 6:50 p.m.

With the influx of traffic into the Lexington area, the transportation cabinet has been encouraging drivers to take the following routes:

Any drivers coming from the north, east or west via I-75 or I-64, should take exit 113, the Paris/Lexington exit into Rupp Arena.

Drivers from the south on I-75 take the Richmond road exit, that's exit 104.

Officials also say that Newtown Pike and Versailles Road will have two lanes open, instead of just the one lane that has recently been open.
