Lexington company gives the gift of heat

While many have Christmas wish lists, it's the essentials that many of us take for granted.

"He works 40-50 hours of week. Right now it's only him and it's like we haven't had heat in four years, says Cindie Jackson, of Lexington.

With winter just beginning, many families like the Jackson's looked for help to heat their homes. After learning about the Fayette Heating and Air giveaway, Cindie Jackson said there was nothing to lose, "I nominated my husband, then I put it on Facebook and all of my friends nominated him also, because they knew with her, we needed a new furnace. We have space heaters and stuff but we were afraid she would get burned."

The Jackson's were one of 300 families that were nominated and those behind this early Christmas gift say they're happy they can help.

"It's something that we can do in our industry to help families that are just a little down in their luck and just need that little bit of help," says Bret Melrose, the owner of Fayette Heating & Air.

Seven hopeful families came to today's events, not knowing that they would all be recipients of a new heating system to be installed by Christmas.

"Anytime would have been great, but it's even better," says Sharon Baker, of Lancaster.

Here is a list of the seven recipients of new heating systems this year:

Wendy Howe, Frankfort, KY

Rod & Cindie Jackson, Lexington, KY

Wayne & Laney McCoy, Lexington, KY

Sharon Baker, Lancaster, KY

Raymond and Helga, Lexington, KY

Crystal Morris Nicholasville, KY

Ashley McCoy Lexington, KY
