A major winter storm is on the way to the bluegrass state. Local high water issues are possible early Wednesday and that will be followed up by heavy snow and sleet. Significant accumulations are likely Wednesday night and Thursday.
Three firefighters from Lexington left for New Jersey Friday to help with the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.
They'll arrive Saturday and will be ready to help with rescue efforts after the hurricane goes through the area.
The three firefighters are among 11 Lexington firefighters on a FEMA task force who are available in case of national emergencies.
