WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - After an investigation into a possible scam, there's now an arrest warrant out for a Laurel County man.
Mark Adams, 21, from London, claimed to be a worker of the Cumberland Valley Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation.
Last month, deputies say Adams visited a home and said he was there to install lightning rods to protect the victim's home. After installing the rods, he told the homeowner that the cost for the rods was $8,000.
Investigators say the homeowner refused to pay the outstanding bill, so Adams dropped the price to $4,000. Adams pleaded with the victim and said that he would lose his job if he didn't receive the money for the lightening rod installation. Subsequently, the victim wrote a check to Adams for the $4,000.
The lightning rod scandal didn't stop there.
Adams returned to the same home on a later day with a chainsaw. This time he was there to cut trees. The homeowner told Adams to leave and called 911.
