The severe storms Thursday evening had a lot of dangerous lightning with them. A lightning strike even injured a woman in Jessamine county on a farm. According to emergency responders, she was resuscitated and was taken to UK Hospital.

Five times hotter than the sun! Bolts of electricity shoot out of the clouds and make the air explode with thunder. The storms Thursday evening packed quite a punch due to nearly continuous lightning. The tallest object around often becomes lightning's target. Several trees were knocked down, this on catching fire while laying across active power lines. We were on the scene as fire crews monitored the flames and waited for utility crews to shut off power.

Pictures submitted on Facebook show the beauty of this powerful force, that is yet so dangerous it kills many each year. That's why it's important to get indoors, when thunder roars.
