LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Two central Kentucky middle schools have postponed a football game for Tuesday night because of a threat made against a student.
Lincoln County Middle School was supposed to open its season in Stanford against Bondurant Middle from Frankfort.
But the schools' principals decided on Tuesday morning to postpone the game because of a threat made on social media.
Lincoln County Middle School principal Debbie Sims tells WKYT one student at her school made the threat against a Bondurant Middle School football player and student.
Sims, in her seventh year as principal, says the school system took appropriate action against the student and notified law enforcement.
"It's opened our eyes as well. So what we're doing is, I've already looked at some social media athletic policies," Sims said. "Schools have policies for their student athletes and so we're looking at developing a policy for our student athletes as well."
Sims does not say what punishment the student received, but law enforcement is involved. We also are not told what the post said.
A new date has not yet been set for the football game.
