Lincoln County deputy injured in Garrard County accident

GARRARD COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy is in the hospital after an early morning crash.

It happened on US 27 in Garrard County, just south of Lancaster.

Police on the scene tell us a pick-up truck and the deputy's SUV hit head on. The Lincoln County deputy, who has been identified as Linda Cook, was on her way to training classes in Richmond.

"On her way to school, there was a subject that had fallen asleep. And had drifted over into her lane of travel and struck her vehicle head on," said Lincoln County Sheriff Curt Folger.

Cook was taken to the hospital for observation. Sheriff Folger says she had a broken leg. The driver of the pickup was not injured.

Lancaster Police are still investigating the accident.
