ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT)- Officials have canceled a proposal for commercial logging in the Daniel Boone National Forest in Rockcastle County.
The proposal caused concern about the potential impact it would have on the spring and trees there.
The Herald Leader reports the forest service proposed a mix of commercial logging and tree thinning would improve the health of the forest and diversify the habitat.
Opponents of the plan had proposed horse and hiking trails as an alternative in one area say they will continue to push with that idea now that the logging plan has been withdrawn.
