LONDON, Ky. (WKYT) - We're tracking a scam alert out of London. The London Police Department is warning people about a phone scam where a caller pretends to be a representative of the utility company.
London Police say they've received reports from grocery stores, motels and restaurants. They say the caller tells you if you don't pay your gas, water or utility bill immediately your services will be turned off. The caller wants the money wired or sent on a prepaid or reloadable debit or gift card. We're told the caller sounds very convincing.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your utility bills, police say you should contact your local utility company.
