Louisville police find kidnapped man in car trunk

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A Louisville Metro police officer conducting a routine traffic stop found a man bound and gagged in the trunk of the car he pulled over.

Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley told The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/QTWxOV) that man said he was working at a gas station early Saturday when two people overpowered him and forced him into the trunk.

An officer pulled the vehicle over at about 3:30 a.m. and heard banging coming from the trunk of the car. He called for backup and discovered the victim.

Smiley said the man, whom she did not identify, was taken to the hospital for observation.

Officers were continuing to investigate. Reporters on the scene saw a man and a woman handcuffed on the ground next to the car.
