The Lexington Police Department arrested William Ray McKee, the Louisville corrections facility escapee suspected of stealing multiple cars in Scott County.

"We got a call today from the Scott County Sheriff's Office that they were tipped off by a friend that McKee was at the transit center downtown," explains Lexington Police Lt. Dean Marcum. "We dispatched two troopers down there and they spotted the suspect. He was arrested without incident."

Scott County Sheriff Tony Hampton says he's grateful the situation went as smooth as it did. Prior to McKee's arrest, family and friends informed police that McKee had threatened he would not go without a fight and would not go alive.

"When our officers approached him he said he was tired of being on the run and was ready to face what he had done," explains Lt. Marcum.

McKee escaped from a corrections facility in Louisville on June 12th. He's a suspect in multiple car thefts in Jefferson, Scott and Rockcastle.

Police say McKee could face a long list of new charges.
