Madison Central knocks out Holmes 65-61 in overtime

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Dominique Hawkins scored 31 points, including all of Madison Central's 14 in the fourth quarter, and the Indians beat Holmes 65-61 in overtime Friday in the quarterfinals of the Kentucky boys' Sweet 16 basketball tournament.

Hawkins, a 6-foot-1 senior, struggled in the first half and was 3-of-14 from the field at the break for Madison Central (30-5). But he and Holmes sophomore James Bolden locked in for a second-half showdown. They answered each other's shots in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter and overtime.

Bolden finished with 29 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulldogs (32-3).

Holmes missed four consecutive free throws down the stretch, but Bolden snapped the streak and hit two with 10.6 seconds left in regulation to tie the game and send it to overtime.

Hawkins had five of the Indians' 10 points in overtime..
