RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - Patrick Hamner is accused of stabbing his sister 20 times at her Richmond home. Wednesday morning, he attended District Court. His case is now headed to a grand jury.
Officials say the incident happened at the end of last month. They say Billie Morgan was stabbed multiple times with a pocket knife and a screwdriver. She was taken to UK's trauma center. She was released Tuesday afternoon. Morgan is now recovering at a family member's house.
Her ex-husband is disgusted with what happened and wants justice for Morgan and their kids.
"That was their uncle. That was her brother. They thought that they could trust him," said Joshua Richards.
Police previously arrested Hamner in December for destroying Morgan's apartment.
Because of the stabbing, the family does not want to move back in. They are asking for help to pay for a new place to live and for medical bills. A fund is set up at People's Bank in Madison County. If you wish to make a donation, you can do it under Billie Morgan.
