MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A 22-year-old man from Maryland is now charged with stalking and sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl over the internet.
Richmond Police say Andrew Parrish started contacting the 13-year-old in January of 2013 and lied to her about his age, saying he was 16-year-old when he was actually 21 at the time.
Over the next few months, Parrish’s interaction with her became more and more illicit.
“He had sent numerous nude photos of himself to the 13-year-old girl and attempted to get her to send him nude photos,” said Chief Larry Brock with the Richmond Police Department.
Eventually, police say Parrish traveled from his home in Maryland to the teenager’s home in Madison County and that’s when her parents immediately noticed some red flags.
“The parents realized he wasn’t really 16-years-old.”
The girl’s parents called police last November but officials say that didn't stop Parrish from constantly keeping track of the teen, even to the point of following her around town.
The library in Richmond is one of many places where police say Parrish would follow the teenager. When she asked Parrish to leave her alone, he allegedly began to harass and threaten her and her family.
“The threats were to harm and kill them so how did they know if he ever intended to carry that out? It was certainly alarming enough to them that they brought it to our attention,” Brock told WKYT on Tuesday.
But in the middle of March, Parrish was finally arrested at his home in Maryland and brought back to Madison County where he's now facing charges ranging from stalking to sexual abuse.
On Monday, Andrew Parrish was charged with first degree sexual abuse because of the illicit video that he sent to the 13-year-old.
He declined our request for a jailhouse interview.
