Man armed with rifle robs Lexington Krispy Kreme employees

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington police are still searching for an armed robber who took the wallets of some Krispy Kreme employees late Sunday night.

Police said the robber was armed with a rifle when he approached three of the Krispy Kreme employees, standing outside the Richmond Road location. One of the employees told WKYT he was confident the rifle was a Ruger 10/22, with a stainless steel barrel and black composite stock.

Police also told WKYT that the victims were able to give a good description of the thief. They told police that the robber was a black man, about 5'7" and 130 pounds with short hair. They said he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with khaki pants and a white bandanna covering his face.

No one was injured, but the robber did manage to get away with a few wallets and a pack of cigarettes.

Police are looking at surveillance video picked up at a nearby hotel, where they believe the same man may have attempted to rob others before running off.
