LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- Police say a man made things worse for himself after being pulled over this evening.

Police say Deshaun Cotton was pulled over for having expired tags, but when officers got out of the car to cite him, he drove off.

He ended up in the parking lot of an apartment building where police say he ran from his car and they caught him after a short chase.

"That may have been the only thing he was cited for unless the officer saw some other violations, now after running from the police he's going to be charged with felony running from the police," said Lt. Dean Marcum, with the Lexington police.

Police brought out a K-9 to search for the area. They believe Cotton threw something into the bushes during the foot chase.
