Man arrested, charged with murder after another dies of overdose

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - Police have charged a man with murder, almost three months after the victim died.

Wade Dickerson, 47, died of a heroin overdose on August 7th. Police arrested Harold Wayne Salyers, 52, Thursday evening, and charged him with Wanton Murder.

Winchester Police had conducted an investigation, which showed Salyers sold Dickerson the heroin before Dickerson's death.

According to Winchester Police Kevin Palmer this is the first time his department has pursued charges against a suspected drug dealer for another person's death.

He went on to say the department will continue to put a strong focus on potential criminal charges in other drug related deaths.
