BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - A man arrested for menacing is claiming to be responsible for the murder of a Kentucky Police Officer.
The Kentucky Standard sites a police report from Saturday regarding the arrest of Brant Sheckles.
In the report, Sheckles claimed a group that he is a member of, who calls themselves the Bardstown Money Gang, is responsible for Officer Jason Ellis' murder.
Officials say this is the second time in about two months that Sheckles has been arrested and made threatening comments toward police referencing the Ellis murder. The Kentucky Standard reports that Sheckles made the same claims back in July.
Kentucky State Police told the paper they had interviewed Sheckles early on in the investigation and didn't believe he was a 'viable suspect'.
This report comes as the Bardstown Police and the Nelson County Sheriff's Department said they've had enough with the Bardstown Money Gang.
Over the weekend, police say members of the group came to a field party and assaulted a group of underage girls. Police believe the group is also responsible for recent attacks on the elderly.
Arrests were made in the latest incident and police say more arrests are possible.
