LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- A man who police say assaulted an officer during a traffic stop, then fled the scene, has turned himself in.
Lexington Police tell us 20-year-old Bryce Ricketts showed up at the Lexington Police Station around 11 p.m. Sunday night.
Police say Ricketts was pulled over on 1-64 Sunday around 1:00 at the 82 mile marker for reckless driving.
Officials say Sergeant Roy Wilson, a more than 20 year veteran with the Lexington Police Department, was attempting to arrest Ricketts for the violation when he punched Wilson in the face.
"Sergeant Wilson fell back and at that time Ricketts got into his car and sped off, knocking Wilson back onto the ground. Causing him a leg and hand injury, "explains Sherelle Roberts with the Lexington Police Department.
Sergeant Wilson radioed in the assault and drove himself to the hospital.
Officials say he was treated for a hand, leg and head injury. He was released shortly after.
A warrant was put out for Ricketts arrest. We're told he turned himself in late Sunday night.
Ricketts is charged with assault, wanton endangerment, fleeing and evading, resisting arrest and reckless driving.
