Man charged in HOA deaths involved in jail scuffle

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A Louisville Metro Corrections official says an inmate charged with killing two members of a homeowners association got into a scuffle with officers and has been hospitalized.

Jail spokeswoman Kelly Feiock says Mahmoud Yousef Hindi was having a "behavior problem" with an officer on Saturday night prior to the scuffle. He was sent to a hospital on Sunday and remained hospitalized with injuries on Monday morning.

Feiock says Hindi was in his cell at the time of the incident and was "being argumentative." She says jail officials are investigating.

Hindi missed a court hearing Monday because of "health issues," a judge said.

Hindi, a former doctor, had been having property disputes with his homeowners association. Police say he went to a meeting in September and fatally shot two members.
