Man charged in connection with two Lexington robberies

Lexington police say they have charged a man in connection with two robberies that took place over the summer in Lexington.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington police say they have charged a man in connection with two robberies that took place over the summer in Lexington.

An arrest warrant has been issued for William McBride Jr. He has been charged with two counts of robbery.

The first robbery took place at a Chase Bank on June 21 on Clays Mill Road. Police say McBride entered the bank, showed a handgun and demanded cash. He placed the money in a plastic bag he brought with him. He took off running down Clays Mill Road.

The second robbery took place July 19, also at a Chase Bank on Nicholasville Road. Police say he suspect walked into the bank, brandished a handgun and left with cash. The suspect fled on foot.

Police say McBride is currently being held in the Franklin County Detention Center, Columbus, OH on a separate case.
