One man behind bars, another called a hero after apartment fire

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man has been charged with arson and terroristic threatening after a fire Sunday at Courtside apartments in Lexington.

66-year-old Donald Kyle is charged and is listed at the Fayette County Detention Center, according to the jail website.

A good samaritan is to thank for saving the lives of many when the apartment complex caught fire.

Sean Bixler said he jumped into action when he saw smoke, started knocking on doors, and says he even helped some of the older tenants get out safely.

"And I said man, ya'll smell that and I looked out the window and it was just black smoke rolling from the silver vent out his back window," said Bixler

Fire officials tell us the damage is contained to the one apartment where the fire started.
