EWING, Ky (WKYT) - The arrest of an accused double-murderer has rattled the small community of Ewing.
"It's got everybody on edge right now," said Danny McIntyre.
Authorities said migrant worker Mariano Arias murdered two people whose remains were discovered on a Fleming County hillside months ago. Investigators are still trying to figure out who the two people are.
"That's scary," said Melinda Carpenter.
Carpenter works at a nearby Cowan Station and said she'd served Arias lunch several times.
"He didn't act no different than anybody else. Pitiful that somebody could be in our community like that," she said.
Police arrested Arias last night. They said he was a migrant worker and they had to move quickly before he moved on.
"In a few weeks, tobacco season will be over and the migrant workers will be moving on to a different area to work, so we felt like we had to move quickly here," said Fleming County Sheriff Scotty Royse.
People back at Cowan Station said their thoughts were with the victims.
"They've got a mom and dad. They've got parents. They don't deserve it," said Danny McIntyre.
"I would say we would all just like to know who they were. They had family somewhere, belonged to somebody," said Carpenter.
Investigators said they expected to make other arrests in the case.
