RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) – A man was charged for impersonating a police officer following an incident at the Manhattan Club Thursday night.

Richmond Police were dispatched to the Manhattan Club on E. Water Street around 9:30pm Thursday night to respond to a report of a customer refusing to pay for services.

50-year-old John D. Edwards tried to get out of paying for his tab at the club by telling employees that he was a police officer and did not have to pay.

Edwards then tried to tell the Richmond Police Officers that he was a police officer and when asked to show credentials, produced an ID card from the Federal Medical Center of Lexington which indicated that he was an electrical worker supervisor at the facility.

Edwards then became disorderly and was taken into custody. He is charged with Impersonating a Peace Officer and Theft of Services and was taken to the Madison County Detention Center.
