Updated: Tue 11:51 PM, Dec 11, 2012

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - A man had to be rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in a neighborhood. The incident happened just after 9 Tuesday evening outside an apartment building on Oxford Drive.

Winchester police say a man was walking southbound in the northbound lane of Oxford Drive when a car hit him. That car then swerved into the lawn of one of the apartment buildings. Winchester Fire crews also responded to the incident. They tell us a medical team flew the victim to UK Hospital.

People living inside the apartment complex close to the incident were shook up by the event.

"I don't have a car and I don't have a license. And with it being right at my doorstep. That's also something else that's very traumatizing to me," says Jeffrey Arvin, who lives inside the complex.

At this time WKYT does not have the name of the victim or his condition. Police say the victim did not have identification with him. Police say they are not filing charges against the driver because they believe the incident was an accident.
